EMEC selected by EU Gateway: a great result and a big opportunity in Asian market

EMEC took part in the latest mission organized in Asia within EU Gateway | Business Avenues, an initiative funded by the European Union for helping selected European companies to establish long-lasting business collaborations in Asian markets, in particular in Japan, China, Korea and South East Asia (Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam).

The opportunity to participate in EU Gateway business missions, meeting the eligibility criteria, is an important commercial result for EMEC as well as an important starting point for a further expansion of its business. “EU Gateway | Business Avenues” program is indeed the leading business platform for establishing successful partnerships between European and Asian firms, and its business missions act as fundamental entry tickets for European companies to markets with many opportunities that can be difficult to penetrate due to business culture or regulatory constraints.

EU Gateway selected 44 companies, including EMEC, from 14 different EU countries for participating in the mission planned between July 8th and 13th in Singapore and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and focused on Environment and Water Technologies sector.

The mission week started with a 4-day focus on Singapore, one of the main global commerce and finance hub and the starting point for all EU Gateway missions in South East Asia. EMEC could exhibit their latest and most innovative products, giving particular prominence to the new stepper motor dosing pump PRISMA, at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, during the Singapore International Water Week 2018, and get in contact with a remarkable number of visitors from a variety of Asian companies which were interested in European innovations.

The 2-day Malaysian part of the EU Gateway Environment & Water Technologies mission, in Kuala Lumpur, sees EMEC through new pre-scheduled business meetings and an exhibition setup for local visitors where our staff could get in touch with future possible partners in Malaysia, a market that grows at fast paces and experienced a 5.8% growth within the last year. EMEC representatives were also briefed on the opportunities in the environment and water sectors and about potentially collaborating with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority. After all the EU is Malaysia’s 3rd largest trading partner and local companies have great interest in what Europe has to offer in the environment and water industries.

During the mission, EMEC had opportunities aplenty to meet end users, agents, distributors, and potential partners in the region. The mission was chock-full of exhibition prospects, business-to-business meetings, networking events and briefing sessions and EMEC had the chance to establish a presence, grow their reach and set up new business collaborations in South East Asia. Overall, South East Asia has enormous market potential for companies that are looking to expand in the region and the mission’s success attests to the growing interest and need of European solutions.

The next EU Gateway missions that could see the participation of EMEC will again be focused on Environment & Water Technologies, and will take place in 2019 in Japan and then again in Southeast Asia (Singapore and the Philippines).
