EMEC continues to invest in the innovation of its production processes with the introduction of the new Panasonic PTH machine, installed at the EMEC4 plant. This investment stems from the need to increase production capacity, improve the efficiency of electronic board assembly, and keep pace with the growing market demand.
The machine was selected to automate the assembly of electronic components using PTH (Pin Through Hole) technology—that is, components with leads that are inserted into holes in the printed circuit board. This is a critical step in the production of the electronic circuit boards used in EMEC products, requiring precision, reliability, and process consistency.
The PTH will be used for the assembly of electronic boards for EMEC products, including the VMF, HMF, and KPLUS boards, as well as new products that will be gradually introduced. The system was designed to support diversified production, with multiple board part numbers and different configurations, to meet the needs of various products.
The introduction of the new technology will increase the availability of electronic circuit boards, keeping pace with rising demand and improving workload planning and management. Automation will also reduce manual operations and make the production process more efficient and reliable.
The entire process of implementing the new Panasonic PTH was overseen by a task force consisting of Davide Verna, Massimiliano Battisti, Domenico Pitorri, and Andrea Manetta. The team oversaw the various phases of the project, from assessing production needs to selecting the technological solution, through to the installation and commissioning of the system.
Collaboration among the company’s various departments made it possible to address the technical and organizational challenges associated with the introduction of the new machine, facilitating coordination among the departments involved and the fine-tuning of the new production process.
The Panasonic PTH thus represents another step forward in EMEC’s journey of technological innovation. This investment helps strengthen in-house expertise, increase automation, and make production increasingly efficient, with the goal of supporting the company’s growth and ensuring that customers receive reliable, high-quality products.
