LOTUS DISINFECTION SYSTEMS

SAFE DISINFECTION

LOTUS chlorine dioxide generators are the most effective solution for water disinfection in a variety of applications and in particular for the prevention of legionellosis in domestic hot and cold water systems.

The bacterium that causes legionellosis, Legionella, is able to adapt even to conditions that would be fatal to other organisms. Thanks to its high Redox potential, chlorine dioxide exerts a more powerful disinfectant action than other biocides against Legionella and all kinds of germs and contaminants such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and algae. The oxidation potential is higher than that of chlorine, for example, so fewer chemicals can be used. Potentially dangerous disinfection by-products are absent and it is proven to penetrate and degrade the Legionella habitat. The action of the chlorine dioxide is independent of the pH value of the water, is not aggressive towards pipes and has a longer-lasting and wider-ranging effect from the injection point.

Scientific tests have shown the effectiveness of the disinfectant action, with almost 100% killing of Legionella in just 30 minutes and elimination of the proliferation habitat. Safety is ensured by the atmospheric pressure production process, in which chlorine dioxide is never treated in its gaseous form but is produced by reacting two liquid precursors in a reaction chamber in only the amount needed at the time.

   CHLORINE DIOXIDE GENERATORS

LOTUS

LOTUS chlorine dioxide generators can be used in a wide variety of industries for the control of micro-organisms in water systems and are particularly recommended for the reduction, control and prevention of Legionella in cold and hot water systems.

LOTUS chlorine dioxide based biological control systems are reliable and safe, being designed so there is no requirement to handle ClO2 as a gas: two liquid chemicals, Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) and Sodium Chlorite (NaClO2), react together to form the chlorine dioxide required, so there is no ClO2 gas or concentrated solutions outside of the process application. An active carbon filter further prevents potential exhalations.

Thanks to EMEC online control system ERMES, you will also be able to monitor and interact with LOTUS systems from everywhere and through a simple but powerful web interface.

   CDS

CHLORAMINE DOSING SYSTEM

CDS NH2Cl is a compact, automatic system designed for the production of chloramine in aqueous solution for drinking water or industrial purposes, within the scope of use specified in these instructions.

CDS NH2Cl simultaneously doses two chemicals, ammonia (at a known percentage) and sodium hypochlorite (at a known percentage), into the water inside the reactor. Generation is monitored by the HMI and can be adjusted by a flow meter with the main water flow.

The system includes three protections:

A protection for the NH3 dosing pump

A protection for the NaClO dosing pump

A protection from the minimum flow reading of the dilution water meter

The generation of NH2Cl occurs inside a reactor with external water flow to protect the reactor. Inside the reactor, the two reagents react with the dilution water at a concentration of approx.
2 g/l (2000 ppm).

ELEMENTS

DOSING PUMPS
The CDS is equipped with two Prisma series volumetric reciprocating pumps with controlled volume, providing precise control of flow dynamics — essential for process system efficiency. The reciprocating motion results in a sinusoidal flow, meaning the pumped product is delivered in a pulsating, rather than continuous, manner. The flow rate, or pump volume, is controlled by adjusting the diaphragm stroke. Directional valves at the inlet and outlet of the pump head regulate the flow generated by the reciprocating movement of the dosing pump diaphragm.

PRESSURE GAUGE
The pressure gauge enables accurate monitoring of the pump’s working pressure..

DIAPHRAGM LIQUID SEPARATOR
The diaphragm liquid separator ensures accurate pressure measurement when corrosive liquids are present, preventing damage to the pressure gauge.

BACK PRESSURE VALVE
The back pressure valve prevents spontaneous liquid flow (siphoning) when the suction tank level is higher than the discharge level.

ULTRASONIC FLOW METER (Control Flow)
Equipped with feedback control, the ultrasonic flow meter ensures accurate and fully automatic adjustment of the dosing process.
