A Day to Grow Together: Safety, Teamwork, Awareness

A Day to Grow Together: Safety, Teamwork, Awareness
On May 22, 2026, the La Foresta Golf Club in Rieti hosted one of the most significant events of the year for the EMEC community: a team-building event that brought together over 200 people, united by a common goal: to reflect on the value of safety through an engaging, participatory learning experience that broke away from traditional formats.

The initiative was part of a broader training program divided into two phases: an initial day of outdoor activities, featuring experiential and group exercises, followed by a session at the company dedicated to contextualizing and exploring in greater depth the concepts that emerged during the field experience. This approach made it possible to transform the training into a concrete journey of learning and awareness.

The participants were divided into eight teams, each identified by a color and a distinctive value. This was a simple yet effective way to strengthen the sense of belonging, encourage collaboration, and remind everyone that safety—even before it is a rule or procedure—is a shared responsibility that stems from everyday behaviors.

Throughout the day, the teams participated in a series of activities led by safety and training professionals, designed to address the topic from different perspectives: from safe driving to the effects of fatigue and distractions, from ergonomics to stress management, from emergency communication to behavioral safety, and even the link between well-being, nutrition, and work performance. There was a single common thread running through all these experiences: understanding how individual choices affect not only our own safety, but also that of the people who work and live alongside us.

The practical nature of the activities was particularly well-received. Through simulations, exercises, discussions, and team challenges, participants were able to experience firsthand how factors such as attention, communication, risk perception, and collaboration are crucial in everyday situations. In this way, learning became experience, and experience turned into awareness.

The second phase of the project, which took place later at the company, allowed the participants to apply what they had learned during the outdoor session to their actual work environment. The contribution of occupational psychologist Claudia Messeri, who specializes in training and guidance on workplace safety culture, offered further food for thought on the role of people and their behaviors in risk prevention.

In addition to the training aspects, the team-building event provided an important opportunity for colleagues from different functions, locations, and departments to come together. Sharing challenges, exchanging ideas, stepping up to the plate, and achieving common goals has strengthened the network of relationships that is one of our organization’s key strengths.

Safety is not just a set of rules to follow. It is a culture to be built every day, through care, responsibility, and teamwork. May 22 reminded us that learning together means growing together, and that people’s well-being is the essential foundation for the company’s success.

For this reason, the safety-focused team-building event was not merely a training session, but a tangible expression of the values that guide EMEC: care for people, responsibility, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Values that, once again, we had the opportunity to experience firsthand.
